One-to-one Barton tutoring uses explicit, multisensory instruction in a careful sequence to build reading and spelling skills.
Getting started
A careful fit, then a clear sequence.
Barton begins with screening to check whether a student has the auditory skills needed to use the system successfully. A formal dyslexia diagnosis is not required.
The Barton system recommends at least two hours of one-to-one tutoring each week, year-round, with sessions no longer than one hour. Skills are taught explicitly and practiced until they are secure before the next step is introduced.
